Behind Crusty Doors

  • Huize Regenboog

    Welcome to Huize Regenboog! A treasure of a home at the end of Rainbow... street! Behind this crispy door live 10 girls, together with Willie the cat. Willie also went missing once, but don't talk about that anymore. Huize Regenboog is a house with a roof. And yes, that wasn't always the case; during a heavy storm the roof disappeared once. They also have a roof terrace here. Still, the residents of Huize Regenboog prefer to sit outside on the street at a beer table. And it is not surprising that they like to drink beer here; this house used to be a pub!

    In the kitchen everyone comes together. For example, to have a meal! If there are more than 8 girls at the table, it can be a bit stressful. But it's always fun! The Rainbow kitchen also has a real mystery; why the wall has been filled with thousands of tea bags is a mystery to the residents. Fortunately, it does provide a colorful backdrop, for the annual house party, for example!

  • De Poststraat

    Welcome to the Poststraat. If you ring the bell here, there is a good chance that someone who is a head taller than you are will open the door. Let us clarify: Little Stan was 'small' at 196 cm, considering that a tall Stan being 205 cm tall lived there. Nor is it surprising that the residents are so tall. After all, Poststraat is one of Vidar's rowing houses. Here, top athletes live together with the goal of supporting each other to do their best. That means a good night's sleep, no alcohol and eating well (and a lot). The average resident eats 4,000 calories a day!!! Yes, per day! That's equivalent to 9.5 L of beer, a kilo of oatmeal or 250 bananas.

  • De Luna Mansion

    Welcome to "The Mansion", or rather "The Luna Mansion". If you ever walk down Korte Tuinstraat, watch out! At least a little bit. Before you know it, the ladies will be racing through the streets like Max Verstappen neck and neck with Lewis Hamilton. How? Well, with shopping trolleys. It seems that residents have a large collection of shopping trolleys in their driveways. Why? Because then, during get-togethers, a shopping trolley race can be held at any time. The girls were happy to demonstrate this for us.

  • De Kwong

    This week we visited one of the most beautiful houses in 'het Dwaalgebied' and perhaps in all of Tilburg. We asked the men what typifies their home: "The door is always open here. There is always someone at home. We love each other here. The main focus is drinking beer and study progress." It's not all roses, however. No way. There are crispy doors here, too, as many as 56 of them. And all of them can use a new lick of paint after a mistake. And behind those crispy doors? Tilburg's very last copper bar, a Jacuzzi, lightning-fast internet, three basements, fourteen faucets and a doorbell that doesn't always work.

  • Het Fabras Huys

    Welcome to "Het Huys", or rather "Het Fabras Huys". This is where 8 men and, recently, a house hamster live. We asked the men about the living conditions at the house: "Well, we were advised (by our back neighbors) to look for a winter lover to keep heating costs down. We take a more conservative approach to all that. At the Fabras Huys, people prefer to throw each other under the bus when it comes to electricity and gas costs. Despite this, there is a warm and friendly atmosphere."

    Besides being a place to get together, the house also acts as a distribution point of Sarah & Abraham dolls. The earnings are then used by the men to spend a weekend together. Lucrative business if you ask us.

  • Het Witte Huisch

    Behold Het Witte Huisch. The house is also popularly known as De Casa or De Residentie. Located in Noordstraat opposite the restaurant de burgerij, where residents regularly make a culinary pit stop, you will find this monumental building. In the photos, you spot the 15 residents and house cat Bohp, among others, who lays like a king on the piano, of which no one knows if it works. Fortunately, no one uses it either. So an upgrade on your bottle cabinet!?

    Welcome to "The Hut”. If you bike down the Tuinstraat, at some point a meter-long flag hangs over your head. That's when you know you've reached the residence of the men of Pallieter. Cracking open the front door, putting a sticky footstep inside and being welcomed by an authentic smell. Yummy men! But then once you're inside, you're surrounded by Tilburg friendliness and hospitality. Not just Tilburg hospitality. The house functioned as a barber store 120 years ago, then it became a perfumery, and now the house serves as a base of operations for the Pallieter dispute.

  • Chateau Velo

    Welcome to Chateau Velo. Sounds nice doesn't it? Why 'velo'? Very simple. This house is the base of the dispute F.I.E.T.S. and, right, that's 'velo' in French. This is where six men live together. It seems that Sligro comes here every week to deliver crates of beer. So the basement serves as a vault for the liquid gold. A constant quantity of 125 containers with 24 gold bars are stored here. That they know how to find it is surprising. Why? The men told us about the "black hole". Truly everything disappears into it. From mini exercise bikes to sombreros. So watch your valuables if you ever enter "Chateau Velo".
