Artem

This week, we spoke with the study association ARTEM. This association is for 6 different programs at Fontys focusing on the new creative economy. Last year, this association was still called #ClubACI. This year, they are starting with a new name and a new concept, workgroups that allow students to organize workshops and events for fellow students in exchange for study credits. Interested in learning more about this association? Read on!

Association

#ClubACI is now called ARTEM. After the association experienced a decline in recent years, the idea emerged to adopt a new name, foster an open atmosphere, and find a way to bring back motivation and camaraderie. During a "building hangout" in the coffee corner of the building, input was gathered regarding a name, what members would like to do, and what they want to see in the association. Many people attended this event, and it became evident that people truly value social interactions outside of their classes.

The study association caters to 6 different programs, including Creative Marketing Concepts (CMC), formerly known as International Events, Music and Entertainment Studies (IEMES), Creative Communication Concepts (CCC), formerly Communication IMES, Trend Research for Concepting and Lifestyle (TCL), and Digital Business Concepts (DBC), which is similar to commercial economics. Both TCL and DBC are taught in English as well.

Building

The building in which these programs are housed is relatively new. Especially the imposing staircases are noteworthy. If you don't want a sports subscription at the sports center, just take the stairs. Every day, don't be a loser, and use the stairs to reach the third floor instead of the elevator!

We also share the building with other programs, not only the ACE programs but also all the ICT programs. Perhaps that's why the building is designed to be so innovative and creative. Furthermore, the association is delighted that their education is located in Tilburg, a city with plenty of event venues where they can organize events (or participate in them).

That we will still exist next year, with enthusiastic members who continue to desire companionship. Then we haven't done everything in vain, and it appears that we made a good assessment for the new name!

Workshops

The study association offers various workshops for its members. For example, one of the lecturers, along with a group of students, plans to organize an Adobe workshop. This would be beneficial for almost every study program. Additionally, there's a DJ workshop in collaboration with another program in the works.

In the past, not all workshops were equally well attended, so ideas will be collected during input gatherings at the building hangout to better align with what students themselves want. The organization of workshops will also be different this year, as they will be conducted through workgroups.

Workgroups

For each workshop, party, or event, we want to establish a workgroup where people can organize things themselves with our guidance. This way, they can earn school work hours. Many of ARTEM's programs require you to complete a certain number of hours in the field for academic credits. The study association can offer this through workgroups. Members can sign up for a role, and the workgroup will ideally consist of people from different programs.

Like the rest of the association, the workgroups are still in the startup phase, but there are already several exciting events planned. We also hope to receive new ideas from students themselves during the input gatherings.

Companionship

In addition to the workshops and "building hangouts" where members can get to know each other, have a drink, and provide input to the association, we also organize other things. Having drinks at Peanuts, or "Bertie" as they say within the association, is definitely part of it. This year, there will likely be a pub quiz night and a summer party there as well!

Furthermore, there's probably a trip planned for this year, although it's not yet clear whether it will be a ski trip or to another destination. However, there is certainly enthusiasm for traveling with the association again! Additionally, there's a gala on the agenda where everyone, current members, alumni, and teachers are welcome to celebrate the association together.
