Children and Youth have the Future in Tilburg
The Municipality of Tilburg believes this too, and that's why youth participation in Tilburg is taken seriously. One of the goals of the municipality for the coming period is to improve the connection between the voters and the elected representatives. For young people in Tilburg, this means that decisions about youth should not be made for them but with them. Youth participation, 'Samen met de Jeugd', strives for more input, influence, and initiative for young people in current and future policies.
YOUTH PARTICIPATION IN TILBURG
Together with the Youth involves, understands, and engages young people in regional and local policies. One of the themes is the mental health of young people. To improve the mental health of young people, we need to start with the young people themselves. A great example was the FCKD GEN FEST with more than 180 young people. Organized with and for young people, it provided a platform for them to discuss mental health and its impact. In addition to this theme, the city council is now curious about other themes that are important to young people and how they want to be involved in them.
THE CONNECTION BETWEEN VOTERS AND ELECTED REPRESENTATIVES
The Municipality of Tilburg wants to collaborate with the voters themselves. They make significant decisions about the city, such as housing construction, youth care, and sports facilities, and are interested in what young people want to change and how they want to contribute to thinking in Tilburg.
