Cirque du Vagelui is a three-headed turbo pie. 3 Acts: Misfortune folk, electropunk by a synther songwriter, and a loop station filled with throat singing, mouth harp, and a stringed wok, gracefully performed by Willie Darktrousers, BoterBoter, and HEUG, respectively.
Every bite tastes different, but never vanilla. It's a rollercoaster of emotions; first, you think huh? then you think what, only to be taken to WTF.
Willie Darktrousers is actually too sharp to be a vagelui. This misfortune folk from Donkerbroek is full of ingenuity. Willie enjoys singing about misfortune, magic, death, and life.
Heug consists of the musical freedom fighters Jan Schellink and Danibal. They conjure entire performances out of thin air, playing with the audience with their "carefree cheerfulness". Sometimes pounding beats and Dadaist trumpet passages.
BoterBoter is Utrecht's own synther songwriter. But don't be alarmed, his electropunk is infused with soft G's.
