For 15 years now, IQONIC, the incubator of Tilburg University, has been guiding starting entrepreneurs to the top. With advice, coaching, a workplace and funding, they have helped many success stories become reality. In this series of short articles, we let entrepreneurs from the incubator react to famous statements by well-known entrepreneurs: do they think the same, what drives them, and where do the entrepreneurs stand in direct opposition to each other? Richard Branson (Virgin) & Kim van der Zande (CHEFSTBL)
Richard Branson, who doesn't know him?
He is a tycoon, investor and author. In the 1970s he founded the Virgin Group, which today controls more than 400 companies in various sectors. His success began with record sales, followed by his own record brand. This was followed by a mobile operator, a fitness chain and an airline, among others. On everything he sticks the name Virgin. Bloomberg estimates Branson's wealth at over $7 billion.
Why he is successful:
"It's all about your mindset. Instead of obstacles, you have to see opportunities," according to Branson. He is someone who never gives up and dares to invest. "Just because others don't immediately believe in your ideas doesn't mean they're worthless. In my case, it encouraged me to want to succeed even more."
"Fun is one of the most important - and underrated - ingredients for any successful business. If you're not having fun, it's probably time to call it a day and try something else."
Who is Kim van der Zande?
Kim is co-founder of CHEFSTBL, a catering booking platform. A tech entrepreneur, sales leader and startup man. For example, he co-founded FLXone, Europe's leading Data Management Platform, supported in building high-performing sales & marketing teams and helped multiple startups in different industries to achieve their goals. In addition, he is an actively involved alumnus of Tilburg University and involved in the Tilburg University Fund Foundation, among others.

Kim, do you identify yourself with the quote of Richard Branson?
I can agree with this quote 100%. After all, that's why you go into business: to do what you love! The way I apply this on a daily basis is that the fun brings extra energy so you can work harder, are more motivated and can go on longer. If work doesn't feel like work you don't get (or less quickly) exhausted and you can better go after your goals. This is also the hook to the "why successful" quote: starting a business and making it big requires pure perseverance. That's where extra energy and motivation are crucial.
What success did that bring?
The success this has brought me is the sale of my first business in 2015.
Name one thing that has always stuck with you from your time at IQONIC.
What I still use from IQONIC is the network. Every now and then you need people to help you and it is nice to be able to fall back on a community.
