Winter In Tilburg

It has become a tradition: in December and January, Tilburg's city center transforms into a winter garden full of cosiness, winter atmosphere and activity. In 2020, Winter in Tilburg was considerably slimmed down, but for 2021 different  program is planned. For 2021 a more festive and extensive program is on the shelf, because unfortunately the uncertain measures mean that part of the program is not yet finalized.

Winter is already beginning to be experienced in the city center. The streets are attractively lit, there is a pastry stand on the Pieter Vreedeplein and it has already been announced that the Heuvel will once again have an old-fashioned skating rink this winter. It is the run-up to a December month full of activity and winter atmosphere, in which Center of Tilburg continuously adapts to the current measures.

FULL PROGRAM

From December 6, the program of Winter in Tilburg will start. The aim is an accessible program with something for everyone to do. A small selection of what is sure to be on the schedule: At the Pieter Vreedeplein there will be, as in previous years, a living nativity scene and a carousel, as it now looks like the ice rink will return to the Heuvel, the Sint Jozefkerk is organizing a sympathetic winter initiative in collaboration with Tilburg wishes and in the Dwaalgebied there will be a scavenger hunt for the family. Who comes shopping can expect street theater, atmospheric lights throughout the city and cozy winter terraces.

SHOP WINDOW CONTEST

Also back: the window display contest. In the winter, many stores decorate their shop windows with attractive images of 'Sinterklaas' and Christmas. Center of Tilburg adds a competition element to the contest and challenges retailers to go wild with lights, Christmas trees and garlands. On December 23, a professional jury will walk through the city to choose the most beautiful window. A public prize will also be awarded. The most beautiful shop window can be voted on from December 6 on www.centeroftilburg.com.

CORONAPROOF

So there is plenty to enjoy in the city center. Yet the organization of Winter in Tilburg cannot ignore the increasing corona figures. The developments on corona are closely monitored and activities are adjusted when necessary, so that they always meet the current regulations. Marlon Maas, on behalf of Center of Tilburg: "We have a great winter program that we are ready to start. If more is allowed in December, the program offers space for up to 10 additional outdoor events in collaboration with the hospitality squares. If less is allowed, we will focus mainly on local online shopping for the holidays and even more decoration and atmosphere in the city center for our visitors."

The full program of Winter in Tilburg will be announced in the coming weeks via Center of Tilburg's special winter page.
