Must Visit: Trattoria da Gioia

Zodra je binnenloopt bij Trattoria da Gioia, voel je je gelijk welkom. Ivana en haar vader staan gezellig kletsend op ons te wachten bij de balie van het take-away restaurant. De deur naar de keuken staat open en een heerlijke geur komt ons tegemoet.

TILBURG UNIVERSITY

About four years ago Ivana moved here to study Global Law at Tilburg University. There are many Italian students in our city, but Ivana felt that a truly authentic Italian restaurant was still missing. She worked for a while at an Italian (fast-food) restaurant as a waitress and when Corona was at the door, she cut the knot. She told her (then still living in Italy) father about the idea and immediately offered to help her. Ivana wrote a business plan, secured a small loan and put all her savings into her passion project: Trattoria da Gioia.

LA SORELLINA 

The restaurant is named after her little sister of 6, Gioia which means happiness. Family is very important to Ivana, so she talks about how in Italy you often visit your grandmother, mother or aunt for a home-cooked meal. And it must be the same with Trattoria da Gioia, as if you are coming to eat with the family. Fun Fact: the illustration of the girl on the Trattoria da Gioia logo is actually based on Ivana's little sister. 

HOMEMADE WITH LOVE 

For Italians, food is a modo di vivere and is completely woven into the culture. And that is really the case with the Lolli family. They have a passion for taste, good quality and they find it very important that the dishes are prepared as pure as possible. All vegetables at Trattoria da Gioia are freshly picked at the Saturday market and the other ingredients for the main dishes are imported from beautiful Italy. 

 

From ravioli to pasta and from (pasta) sauce to the focaccia, everything is prepared fresh in their own kitchen.
