Every year at the end of the summer the whole of Tilburg is upside down. Everywhere there are activities organized for new and upcoming students. The city is full of fun and everyone is prepared for this spectacle. This year, however, the week will look a bit different because of the coronavirus and the accompanying restrictions. Because of the current 1.5 meter society, some activities that are normally planned every year cannot take place. But the board that is in charge of organizing the TOP week this year has come up with an appropriate solution. They have given a twist to the TOP week so that it can still take place.
Why do you have to sign up as a new student for the TOP week in Tilburg? There are a hundred reasons why you should register. Besides the fact that it is very pleasant, you get to know a lot of new people from your study but also other studies. You will also get to know the city. You learn where to go for a nice meal, where the cozy bars are, where the chillest hotspots are and where the supermarkets are. Besides, this is also the ideal time to orientate yourself on what is possible as a student in Tilburg. There are a lot of sports clubs and study associations where you can join and where you will get more information this week. The major student associations will also promote themselves during this week with fun activities. You can ask all your questions and find out more about what there is to do in Tilburg.
The TOP week takes place from Monday, August 24 until Friday, August 28. This year the TOP week is mostly digital. The physical activities will be small-scale and by RIVM guidelines. Monday is the kick-off of the TOP week. During the kick-off, you will receive study-related information. In the afternoon and evening, you will get to know your mentoring group through an introductory activity and a Pub quiz. This can be digital or physical. On Tuesday there is an Explore 013 Online Fair. Here you can get to know all the student, study, and sports associations that Tilburg has to offer. In the evening you can get to know the four major student associations during the "Meet The Big Four". On Wednesday there is a tour through Tilburg. You can visit it online, but you and your group can also decide to physically go into the city. In the evening you will experience a real beer cantus for the first time in your life. Thursday is all about sports. On this day you can take lessons at the Tilburg University Sports Center. On Friday you can take part in various workshops, visit the four major student associations, have some time to ask questions, and end the week with a TOP Festival.
