Places to study

It's almost December already. This does not only mean that ‘Sinterklaas’ is back in town and that the Christmas decorations can be removed from the attic again. Unfortunately, this also means that the exams are coming up again. The books appear again and summaries are made.

During this period, the campus of Tilburg University is a busy place for students. In the university library, there are many possibilities to study. You can learn in silence, reserve a computer or work with a group. However, you have to be there on time, otherwise, it can happen that everything is full. The nice thing about studying in the library is that there is a coffee corner to take a break and you can use the services of the uni. If you want to try something different and avoid the hustle and bustle of hard studying students, then we have a list of some nice places where you can study for hours for the exams.

The University Library is open on weekdays from 8:00 to 24:00. On weekends the doors open at 10:00 am. Please note, however, that during the exam period the library is only accessible to university students with a valid University Card.

Deprez

Deprez is a former steam boiler factory that is now being used as a space for several organizations. For example for MindLabs, de Persgroep, Fontys, and Tilburg University. There are many free workplaces that everyone can use. There is a kitchen with crockery, vending machines, and free tea. In addition, there are plenty of sockets available. Deprez is located on the Lange Nieuwstraat, opposite the station. The advantage of this location is that it is new, fresh and inspiring. However, you are allowed to talk quietly here, so if you prefer to work in silence, another location may be more suitable or you will need to bring your headphones.

Opening hours: Monday to Friday from 8:00 to 21:00. Outside of this time, there will be a check on who is going in.

Reitse Poort and Tower

Just outside the campus are these two buildings, on Professor Cobbenhagenlaan. There are many rooms where you can work or meet with a project group. You can book these rooms online. There are also areas with tables where you can work for yourself. There are no computers you can use. Very handy; the supermarket is across the street if you get hungry from studying.

Opening hours: Monday to Friday from 8:00 to 22:30. They are closed on weekends.

Academia

This building is on the university campus. Often people forget to go here to take a look. But there are many places on the ground floor where you can easily work for a day. On the other floors, there are hidden corners where you can sit quietly. Around lunchtime, it gets a bit noisy, but reason enough to take a short break yourself. Can't concentrate for a while? Challenge someone and play a game of table tennis or table football.

Opening hours: 8:00 to 22:30. Closed on Saturdays and Sundays.

Lochal

Lochal says itself that the best place to meet, work or study is because they are the most dynamic location of the Spoorzone. The rooms have a monumental allure and are equipped with all modern conveniences. There are 18 conference rooms and more than 300 work and study places in the building. The rooms have to be reserved via an online system, but for the workstations, you can just walk in. Good to know; the higher you get into the building, the quieter the working environment.

Opening hours: Monday to Friday from 8:00 to 22:00, on Saturday from 9:00 to 17:00 and on Sunday from 12:00 to 17:00.

Study cafes

If you prefer to work in a room where it is not completely quiet and where you can order something tasty to drink or eat, then we have a few tips. At Locals or Bagels & Beans you can sit down with your laptop or books. At both cafes, there is Wi-Fi available that you can use. Allow yourself a lunch break to enjoy all the food on the menu.
