Sporty tips on Thursday 2.0
Because of the coronavirus we all move less by sitting inside. However, we have thought of something. On a weekly basis we will share with you nice but especially sporty tips to keep moving. This week we will highlight the famous and popular Oude Warande forest.
The Oude Warande forest is an 18th-century park, located south of the railroad line Tilburg-Breda, between station Tilburg University and district Reeshof. The forest is one of the few intact star forests in the Netherlands. This forest is so-called because several avenues, usually six or eight, lead to the corners and outer edges from a central point. The Warande forest is roughly speaking a square with a central point that contains more than seventy hectares. At least you won't get bored here!
Also, the forest is called the backyard of the University. The campus is directly connected to the forest. It is an excellent place to get some fresh air and for students, hikers and cyclists. After all, a walk during your lunch break or in between studying is good for helping you concentrate. If you walk past building W over the parking lot, you'll walk into one of the forest avenues.
The forest is incredibly beautiful with fine paths. The leafs are still orange, red, and yellow colored by autumn; it is a lovely sight. Besides the fact that you can wander around all afternoon or morning, there are also plenty of resting places like several benches or picnic tables. If you're hungry or thirsty, pay a visit to Grotto. This is a pavilion where you can relax and enjoy a good lunch, drink, or hot drinks in the middle of the forest. They usually have a lovely terrace where you can relax. At the moment, they are only allowed to offer to go services because of the Coronavirus. But fortunately, there are many benches in the neighborhood where you can enjoy your drink in the sun. A real must are the traditional sandwiches at Grotto, including chips! They also have delicious soups, poffertjes, pastries, and snacks.
Enjoy your walk!
