This weekend Smaak Karavaan returns to the Spoorzone in Tilburg with healthy food barns and kitchen princes and princesses. About seven years ago Jan Smulders, one of the co-founders, went with his friends to the food festival 'Rollende Keukens' in Amsterdam. When they saw this spectacle with only tasty snacks and drinks, they thought; this should also be in Tilburg. They suit the action to the word and came up with ‘Smaak Karavaan’. This year the festival will take place for the sixth time.
Jan Smulders: 'It's a party to organize this in the Spoorzone, a very special part of Tilburg. Together with all our employees, we work hard to create a beautiful edition every year. But besides this hard work, we have a lot of fun together. It feels like playing outside'.
This year's edition is called 'Back to the roots'. The organization wants to show what it's really about; friends, fun, good food, and nice drinks. A colorful collection of different kitchens guarantees a great eating adventure. From pancakes and juices to hot dogs, fish & chips, BBQ, meat and tasty fries. For every food lover, there is something on the menu. Are you looking for a challenge during a visit to Smaak Karavaan? Then go and get a sandwich where you can choose how many centimeters it is.
In addition to the delicious snacks and drinks, there is also other entertainment at the festival. Throughout the weekend there are several DJs playing records for young and old. Don't be surprised if a disco hit by ABBA is played and a song by Martin Garrix follows. Haven't you heard your favorite record yet? Then the DJ might be willing to play your request.
The festival is very accessible for all ages, including students. And on top of that, the fact that the entrance is free is a nice bonus. The weather gods won't let us down either and a good portion of the sun is waiting for us. What could be better than celebrating the weekend with friends in the sun and a nice drink in your hand?
Taste caravan takes place on 13, 14 and 15 September in the Spoorzone.
