Preau Millage

Preau Millage has become a party known to every student in Tilburg. A strong formula where students can try different local and special beers for a reasonable price. The atmosphere is chill, relaxed, nice, unforced, cozy and actually much more. We sat down with the organizers to talk about the party. A taste of what is to come!

HOW DID THE IDEA FOR PREAU MILLAGE COME ABOUT?

"Well, nice of you to ask! Actually, it came about in a very funny, but at the same time simple way. The event is of course organized by Fabras and IVV. At both groups there was the idea of organizing an own party."

"It was then allowed to pitch at Fabras. Already some small ideas came out of that which gave a lot of inspiration. What was fun then is that some members of Fabras and of IVV sat together on the terrace once. The ties were good, after all. Then actually quite spontaneously the idea arose to organize a party together. That grew into the Preau Millage as we know it today."

WE WANT TO KICK IT UP A NOTCH THIS YEAR, BUT WE'D LIKE TO KEEP THE COZY AND CHILL VIBE THAT CHARACTERIZES OUR EVENT.

HOW DID THE FIRST EDITION GO THEN? AND, HOW DID IT GROW?

"The first edition was at Club Smederij and attracted about 750 visitors. There were only a few small, local breweries then. That actually worked out really well. There was a great atmosphere. That year, we were just feeling it out. The second year, we kept the recipe the same with just a few more visitors. That edition was also a success!"

"Unfortunately, then came a cancelled corona edition. Last year's edition was the first that we organized ourselves. It took place on the Spoorzone Boulevard. This was actually the first year that we realized that we have a really cool and unique concept in our hands. We really worked with several types of editions this year. That was, of course, because of corona. In the end, we were able to organize the event with two shifts for 750 people."

AND THIS YEAR? HOW IS IT BEING LIVED UP TO?

"This year we want to take it up a notch. We have put 1500 tickets on sale and they are completely sold out. It's going to be a bit of a wait and see, as 1500 people is a big group. We would like to keep the warm and chill vibe that characterizes our event. We don't want to make it too big. Preau Millage is a party that should feel cozy."

"The new edition will take place in the Leijpark. As far as we're concerned, that really is the coolest location we've had up to now. There are only five events organized in the year in the Leijpark and we are now one of them. It is exciting though. You have to take into account several scenarios, because it is a new and larger location. Nevertheless, we are especially happy now, because it is a beautiful place, where our party will definitely succeed."

HOW WOULD YOU BRIEFLY DESCRIBE THE EVENT?

"Chill! I think it mostly comes down to that. There is just a nice and relaxed atmosphere. Drink some of the most delicious beers, enjoy the last rays of sunshine before you dive back into the lecture halls! And, all that with your fellow students."

WHAT ARE THE BEST MOMENTS FROM PAST EDITIONS?

"You can drink a lot of beers for a very reasonable price. You drink a nice glass of craft beer for €2.80. At many events those prices rise a bit faster. Besides that, it is really cool that we are able to organize an event with two fraternities where all students from Tilburg, but also students from Nijmegen and Maastricht come to. You have been working really hard for months, so it is great to see so many people enjoying themselves."

DRINK SOME OF THE MOST DELICIOUS BEERS, ENJOY THE LAST RAYS OF SUNSHINE BEFORE YOU DIVE BACK INTO YOUR LECTURE HALLS! AND, ALL THAT WITH YOUR FELLOW STUDENTS.

ARE THINGS GOING TO BE DIFFERENT THIS EDITION?

"As mentioned, the venue will be different. That's going to be very bold. Also, we just want to make sure that everything at the event is streamlined. We think it's important that there's no line at the bar. You just want to be able to get your beer right away. Again, that's part of the nice atmosphere!"

"There will of course be some new breweries, but also the old familiar ones. For example, Brouwerij Kees and Fat & Lazy will be back. They were very popular. In addition, we are looking at the possibilities with Bavaria to welcome a broader pallet of craft beers."
